PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR PARENTS HERE IF YOU LOVE THEM. My mother passed away in december. She was a cancer patient and she was neglected during her last few months. They just kept telling me her condition wasn't good and wanted me to arrange everything from here. All I hear from sheeja(who is the owner and incharge) is tell us what to do, we will do that. They never take the initiative and did not have qualified staff to take her for the hospital visits or do the needful. They just manage to send someone for name sake never realizing the emergency. I live abroad and had to manage things alone from here whether its arranging for hospital visits, talking to doctors, looking after her diet needs everything had to be told and managed from here. They WILL NOT take any personal responsibility for the inmate's wellbeing. All they will do is give the medicine, food and take care of physical needs but do not expect them to care for your parent's wellbeing or give personalized care. They just call you, give the update and expect you or the personal guardian to do everything. its just a place to stay. food is below average. (I guess thats the standard in kerala if its not a luxury retirement home). All the good staffs leave due to their poor treatment of staffs. They did not have a qualified medical professional inhouse when i was dealing with them. They get cheap housekeeping staffs and leave them to manage. I regret putting my mother there. Since the coordinator I arranged was sick at that time and couldn't take my mother to hospital, I had to chase sheeja to arrange someone qualified to be with her in the hospital. But that staff had to run around many places, looking after many issues, she couldn't be there or give attention to my mother at the hospital. My mother was left with a naive, uneducated staff at the hospital. Inspite of knowing her serious condition, sheeja did not move from her chair or visit my mother in ICU untill just before she passed away. When questioned why she didn't do as expected, her reply was she is not my mother that i should care so much. Also inspite of staying there for years, she didn't even attend my mom's funeral. I trusted them to take care of my mother because sheeja showed lot of patience and my mother was bit of difficult person to manage. Also the rooms were spacious and cleaning was good. But they never give personal attention to the inmate's needs. Its pure business for them with no emotional attachment or genuine love. They do it for only money just like most of the Care homes. And to make it worse, even after my mother's demise, her earrings were stolen by one of Amma care home staff's. Sheeja refused to take any responsibility and I did not get it back. Please keep your parents away from care homes like this if you genuinely love them. The truth is such care homes will never look after your parents like own family or even close to that. I wish I had a second chance to take care of my mother. I live with the guilt everyday.
